Instructions

Gloves are worked from down up in rounds. U each rnd insert hook in the back loop to get ribbed texture.

Begin with ch30 quite loosely.

Rnd 1 - ch3, 1dc in the same st, ch2, 2dc in the same st (= the initial shell), skip 2sts, in the next st: [2dc, ch2, 2dc = shell], skip 2sts, 18dc, 1 more shell in the last st.

Rnd 2 - at the beginning of each rnd with sl sts come to the arch in the middle of 1st shell and in that arch do the initial shell. One more shell in the next arch; then 18dc, sk 2sts, 1 shell in the arch, sl in the 3rd st of the ch3 from previous rnd.

From rnds 3 - 7 - like rnd 2.

Rnd 8 - initial shell, sk 2sts, shell, 1dc, 2dc in next st, 14dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc, sk 2sts, shell, sl st in 3rd st of previous rnd.

Rnd 9 - initial shell, sk 2sts, shell, 1dc, 2dc in next st, 16dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc, sk 2sts, shell, sl st in 3rd st of previous rnd.

Rnd 10 - initial shell, sk 2sts, shell, 22dc, sk2 sts, shell, sl st in 3rd st of previous rnd.

Rnd 11 - initial shell, sk 2sts, shell, 1dc, 2dc in next st, 18dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc, sk 2sts, 1 shell, sl st in 3rd st of previous rnd.

Rnd 12 - initial shell, sk 2sts, shell, 1dc, 2dc in next st, 20dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc, sk 2sts, shell, sl st in 3rd st of previous rnd.

Right thumb opening - with sl sts get to 1st st on the left from the shells and with sl st join that st with the 12th st from it.

Left thumb opening - with sl sts get to 1st st on the right from the shells and with sl st join that st with the 12th st from it.

Both thumbs
Rnd 1 - ch3, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, *2dc, 2dc in next st*, repeat from * to * till the end of rnd, sl st in 3rd st of the initial ch.

Rnd 2 - ch1, 2sc, 1picot, *3sc, 1picot*, repeat from * to * to the end of rnd.

Hand

With sl sts come to the 1st dc of previous rnd, ch3. Work 2 rnds of dc without increasing (or add a few dc if your hand is bigger). Then work 1 rnd of sc with picots like you did with the last rnd for thumb. Bind off and weave in ends on the wrong side of the glove.

Lower wrist edge

Attach yarn in 1st st to the left of the shells.
Rnd 1 - ch1, 17sc, *3sc in space between dc and 1st shell, 2sc in center of shell*, repeat 2 times, 3sc in the last space between the shell and next dc. Sl st in 1st st.
Rnds 2 and 3 - like rnd 1.

(You can also do rnd 3 with picots like for thumb and hand, as seen in the picture of the stone-grey variation.)

If you are keen on ribbons, draw 1 satin or lace ribbon for each glove, do it up like you would do with trainer laces, and tie a bow on the wrist end.

Beautiful pattern on gloves looks very nice without the ribbons and is pointed out more.

The gloves are a match with The Duchess Shawl, that my dear friends and customers wanted to wear with it, and Duchess Marina got a broch as well :)
